The historic road known as the "Mother Road",  Route 66, is an important part of many of the rural communities across the country, and Arizona is no exception.  Every community highlights its distinctive characteristics and evokes memories among many visitors.  Whether is is through preservation of the still existing historic buildings, or vintage signs, or hopefully the same business we remember from days of old, or just cruising experience overall, we love to be connected to our love of the road.

Williams has the distinction of being the last town located on Route 66 to be bypassed by Interstate 40.  The citizens of williams have enjoyed a past time shared with other countless smalltown residents, and that is a love of automobiles and cruising around town.  Millions of baby boomers have fond memories of this past time, and the Williams Main Street Association would like to invite the many residents and visitors coming through on I-40 to "take a step back in time" and "Cruise the Loop®" Route 66 in Williams and other small towns.

The Main Street Association has secured the trademark of the phrase "Cruise the Loop®" which they hope to use in a marketing campaign in promoting to Route 66 enthusiasts.  This self-guided tour can be marketed with little effort, and the Design Committee of Main Street is working with the city to advance the plan with Historic Route 66 Loop signage and completing an official "loop" around Williams.  Plans also include designing an official logo and promotional events that will highlight our unique distination features as a Route 66 community and promote our many businesses that promote Route 66 history and the love of the road.  We hope "Cruising the Loop" in Williams will be a memory that lives on for you and your families.
